BATON ROUGE, La. | Alabama State fell in a pair of matches to open the 2019 season at the Donni Leaycraft Scramble at the LSU Tennis Complex.
Alabama State (0-2) moved indoors to open the season, falling to the host LSU 4-0 before they were moved back outdoors and fell to UT-Rio Grande Valley 4-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Tomas Fernandez picked up the lone win for Alabama State at number three singles against UT-Rio Grande Valley, defeating Clement Sarradin 6-2, 6-1.
- The number three doubles team of Alejo Calvis and Chris Andre picked up win over Zane Kohrs and Michael Loyd of UT-Rio Grande Valley in the final match.
- The number two doubles team of Carl-Louis Luckmann and Fernandez dropped a 7-5 match against UT-Rio Grande Valley.
- Ion Efrim did not complete either one of his matches on the opening weekend of the season, falling in the first set in both matches.
- Alexis Collard (number four) and Alejo Calvis (number six) did not finish their matches against LSU and UT-Rio Grande Valley respectively.

- Alabama State returns home to face West Alabama, January 23, in a doubleheader with the women who will open the 2019 season.
