MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State gave up an early goal to Howard in their final regular season home match, and were unable to get the equalizer, falling 1-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action Sunday.
Howard got on the board early, scoring in the eighth minute when Arianna Morgan took a through ball and outran the defenders to put the ball in the left side of the net for the 1-0 Bison lead. Alabama State had their chances, especially late in the second half to get the equalizer.
With just one-minute remaining, the Hornets had a corner kick opportunity miss wide that would have tied the match.
Alabama State (5-13, 4-5 SWAC) will face Alabama A&M in their final regular season match Friday, November 1. The match is scheduled to kick at 3 pm in Huntsville. The Hornets then turn their attention to the conference tournament which begins November 7 in Prairie View (Texas).
