Montgomery, Ala. – Ready for the 2019-20 season, Alabama State senior Zomoria Clark describes her growth since she first began playing college basketball and what it means to her being one of the most experienced players on the team.
 
What is your favorite thing about being at Alabama State?
Zomoria Clark: It is a big family which is what I like. I like the school whether it is with sports or just out on campus, you are going to feel like you're at home which is the reason why I committed because when I came here I just felt comfortable.
 
Describe your growth from first playing college ball to now.
ZC: My mental state has changed on the court. Now I am more patient, smart and seeing what is really going on. Also my confidence has grown a lot since my freshman year, it took a minute for me to be confident but right now I am starting to see it more.
 
How does it feel being the only senior on the team?
ZC: It's actually pretty cool being able to mold the girls into the players that Coach Freda Freeman-Jackson wants them to be. Pushing them to play their best and to put that drive in them is pretty cool.
 
Talk about the preparation for the 2019-20 season starting from last season.
ZC: Last year we had a lot of freshman and we did better than what we were expected to do. This year during summer workouts the sophomores upgraded their game and are better and this year we are going to be prepared for everything to come. The freshman that came in this year we have been preparing them since the summer and so far they are falling in line.
 
What are you looking forward to most this season?
ZC: Winning games, haha. Going places, upsetting people.

ZC: Shout out to my mom Tonya and my sister Zariah!
 
Alabama State opens the season on the road at South Carolina (Nov. 5) who made it to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament last season and finished the season ranked at No. 15. Head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson enters her 22nd season at the helm in 2019-20 with a 308-316 overall record.
