Montgomery, Ala. – Alabama State volleyball began its final week of the regular season in dominating fashion with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-17) win over Jackson State in Southwestern Athletic Conference volleyball action inside of Lockhart Gymnasium on Monday night.

The Lady Hornets (14-20, 11-6 SWAC) posted a .333 hitting percentage with seven team blocks en route to their fifth consecutive 3-0 sweep in conference action.

Senior
Bayle' Bennett recorded her 15th double double of the season with 10 kills (.304) and 11 digs alongside a match-high tying two service aces. Senior
Krysta Medearis tallied a match-high 15 kills on a thunderous .560 hitting percentage with only one error in 25 attempts.

Sophomore
Taryn King had six kills in seven attempts for an errorless .857 clip while junior
E'laisah Young secured six kills (.385) with a match-high four blocks including a match-high three solos. Junior
McKenzie Boland led the offense with a match-high 20 assists while freshman
Emersen Belles secured a match-high 21 digs.

Set One (Alabama State 27, Jackson State 25)
The first set was a hard back-and-forth battle until the Lady Hornets recorded four-straight points to take a 17-13 lead. The Lady Tigers (16-17, 12-4 SWAC) did not give up hope as they went on an 8-0 run gain a 21-17 lead. When all hope seemed to be lost, Alabama State stayed focused and fought back, ending the nail-biting first set on two kills and forced two errors.

Set Two (Alabama State 25, Jackson State 17)
The Lady Hornets controlled the entire momentum in the set as they hit .240 with three service aces and posted 12 digs to hold Jackson State to a -.074 hitting percentage with seven errors. Alabama State gained a late 14-point lead at 23-9 before Jackson state went on a 7-0 run to make things interesting but Bennett quieted all of their hopes with a kill for set point.

Set Three (Alabama State 25, Jackson State 17)
After the only tie at 2-all, Alabama State reeled off a 4-0 run to create enough room to hold off for its fifth consecutive win in conference action. In the set, Alabama State recorded 14 kills on a .312 hitting percentage with two service aces.
