Andrade leads @BamaStateTennis at Roberta Allison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | Madalena Andrade captured the championship of the Titia Wilmink Singles Draw on the final day of the Roberta Allison Fall Classic to highlight the weekend for Alabama State.

Andrade captured the title with her third consecutive three-set victory in the championship round. She recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(7) victory over Alexia Witthaus Vine.

Meanwhile, Urska Velec finished the tournament third after claiming the consolation finals 6-3, 6-4 over Marlene Hermann of UAB in the Heather Geros Singles Draw. The sophomore fell to the consolation finals after falling to Taylor Dean of Kennesaw State (6-1, 6-4) in the championship semifinals. Bea Acena also captured the consolation final, claiming the win in the Jean Mills Draw, with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Aspen Jarrett of Kennesaw State.

The team of Maria Popova and Andrade finished the weekend undefeated in doubles play in the Natalie McElveen Doubles Draw with a pair of wins on Saturday. After claiming a 6-1 victory to start the draw, they recorded a pair of victories over teams from Troy (6-2) and UT-Martin (w/o) to finish the tournament.
