Montgomery, Ala. – Alabama State volleyball begins a three-game home stand to close out the 2019 season when it welcomes in-state non-conference foe Troy to Lockhart Gymnasium on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Lady Hornets (13-19, 10-6 SWAC) are coming off back-to-back dominating sweeps over Alcorn State and Mississippi Valley State on Sunday and Monday, respectively. In the last match against the Devilettes, Alabama State won 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-13) after hitting a blistering .324 with 48 kills while limiting MVSU to a .000 clip.

Three players racked up double-digit kills led by seniorÂ
Krysta Medearis with a match-high 15 on a .258 hitting percentage alongside eight digs. SeniorÂ
Bayle' Bennett (.310) and juniorÂ
Taira Cottingham (.562) added 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

McKenzie Boland tallied a match-high 45 assists with eight digs. FreshmanÂ
Emersen Belles led the defense with a match-high 20 digs and a service ace.

On the season, Bennett leads the way with 343 total kills averaging 2.96 per set alongside the second-most digs (305, 2.63/set) and service aces (31) on the team. Medearis follows behind with 285 kills on a .253 hitting percentage with the third-most blocks on the team at 52 including 12 solos.

E'laisah Young poses as an all-around threat as she has 233 kills with a blistering .353 hitting percentage, 23 service aces, 79 digs and a team-high 70 blocks including 23 solos.

Defensively, Belles leads the team with 400 digs (3.67/set) while also leading the team in service aces with 37. Boland paces the offense with 633 assists averaging 5.65/set.
