MADISON, Wisc. | Zomoria Clark led four Alabama State players in double figures, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong second half run by Wisconsin as the Lady Hornets fell 85-67 on the road Thursday night.
Clark finished the night with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds in the loss, hitting on 7-of-13 shots from the floor. She was joined in double figures by
Taylor Aikerson with 13 points on a trio of three-point shots, while
Courtney Lee added 11 points and recorded a pair of steals.
Jayla Crawford added 10 for Alabama State (3-5), hitting on 7-of-8 shots from the free throw line.
Alabama State shot 35.5 (22-of-62) percent from the floor but was held to 22.7 (5-of-22) percent shooting from beyond the arc. They also connected on 78.3 (18-of-23) percent from the free throw line, while dishing out 13 assists on their 22 made field goals.
The Lady Hornets were able to put 27 points up in the fourth quarter, hitting on 47.4 (9-of-19) percent of their shots from the floor to chip away at the Wisconsin lead that was built with a 16-0 run in the second half. The Lady Hornets cut the lead to 12 close to the half, before the big run in the third by Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin was led by Niya Beverly with 17 points as she hit on 6-of-8 shots from the floor, while Sydney Hillard finished with 11 in the win for the Badgers who shot 51.8 (29-of-56) percent from the floor and 60.0 (9-of-15) percent from beyond the arc, while also hitting 85.7 (18-of-21) percent from the free throw line.
Alabama State returns to action Saturday afternoon against DePaul on the road, with tip set for 3:30 pm in Chicago (Ill.).
