MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Five North Alabama players scored in double figures to lead the Lions to an 81-60 victory over Alabama State at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Tuesday night.
Â
Despite 14- and 13-point efforts from
Ayana Emmanuel and
Armani Smith, respectively, the Lady Hornets (3-7) were not able to keep pace with the fast-paced North Alabama (7-2) offense. Smith racked up stats in nearly every category, pulling down six rebounds and tallying three assists on top of her 13-point performance.
Â
As a team, ASU shot 35.6 percent from the floor compared to an extremely efficient 57.7 percent for UNA.
Â
The five Lions in double-digits combined to score 76 of the team's 81 points in the contest. Kenysha Coulson led all players with a double-double, posting 20 points, 10 rebounds and adding five assists.
Â
Things stayed close for most of the game, despite the Lions hitting six three-pointers in the first half. However, North Alabama pulled away with a strong fourth quarter in which it shot 70 percent from the floor.
