@BamaStateWBB head coach inducted into SWAC Hall of Fame

ATLANTA, Ga. | Alabama State women's basketball head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson was inducted into the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hall of Fame Friday night, becoming the 19th member of the Hall from Alabama State.

Jackson was selected based on her career at Alabama State, not only as a coach but as a player. She played two years for the Hornets' basketball program averaging 16.1 points per game and scoring 859 total points. She also shot 75.5 percent from the free throw line and grabbed 207 rebounds during her time as a player.

After her playing days, Jackson moved into the coaching profession as she became an assistant coach for the women's program at Alabama State. Following the stint as an assistant coach, she moved to Loachapoka High School as a head coach before returning to Alabama State to lead the program.

All she has done since coming back is become the school's all-time winningest coach and enters her 22nd season leading the program entering this season. She recorded her 300th career victory last year on the road in an overtime win over UAPB. She currently stands at 311 victories with wins this season included in the total.

During her time at the helm of Alabama State, Jackson has coached several 1,000-point scorers including 2017 inductee Shameka Jackson; while the program has been to numerous NCAA Tournaments under Jackson.

The group from Alabama State includes the likes of C.J. Dunn (1992), Severne Frazier (1992), John H. Jones (1993), G.H. Lockhart (1993), John Garrick Hardy (1994), Charles (Buddy) Spears (1994), Frank Lewis (1995), Jesse White (1995), Norman W. Walton II (1996), William B.
