@BamaStateMBB falls to Austin Peay

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | Despite their best offensive output of the season, Alabama State could not overcome the Austin Peay tandem of Terry Taylor and Jordyn Adams Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Governors 80-69 in the final game of the Basketball Destination St. Pete Shootout.

Taylor and Adams combined for 60 of Austin Peay's 80 points on the afternoon, with each scoring 30 in the win. Taylor finished the day 12-of-16 from the floor and 5-of-8 from the free throw line, while also grabbing seven rebounds; while Adams finished 9-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line.

Tobi Ewuosho poured in a career-high 25 points for Alabama State (1-11) as he finished 9-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. He also hit on 3-of-4 of his free throws for the Hornets, while Brandon Battle finished with nine points for Alabama State.

The Hornets and Austin Peay traded baskets for much of the first half and into the second half, before the Governors were able to use a 12-2 run to pull away from Alabama State. The Hornets held the lead for much of the first half, and finished the day shooting 45.3 (24-of-53) percent from the floor and 50.0 (9-of-18) percent from beyond the arc.

They also shot 75.0 (12-of-16) percent from the free throw line and forced 16 Austin Pay turnovers. Meanwhile, Austin Peay finished the day shooting 58.3 (28-of-48) percent from the floor and just 28.6 (4-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the day shooting 80.0 (20-of-25) percent from the free throw line.

Alabama State is off until after Christmas when they return to action December 29 against No. 8/10 Oregon on the road in Eugene (Ore.). The game will tip at 1 pm (PST) and will be carried on the Hornet Sports Network and can be seen on the Pac-12 Network.
