EUGENE, Ore. | Brandon Battle led three Alabama State players in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Hornets fell 98-59 to No. 6/10 Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena in their final non-conference game Sunday afternoon.

Battle finished the day with 14 points (connecting on six free throws) with nine rebounds, narrowly missing his first double-double of the season. Meanwhile, Tobi Ewuosho and Jacoby Ross each finished with 13 points each in the loss, while Leon Daniels added nine.

With his first basket of the game, Ross eclipsed the 800-point mark for his career in just his junior season for the Hornets who finished the day shooting 38.2 (21-of-55) percent from the floor and 35.3 (6-of-17) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the contest shooting 68.8 (11-of-16) percent from the free throw line, while 11 Oregon turnovers.

Meanwhile, Chris Duarte led Oregon (11-2) with a career-high 31 points, missing just three shots on the day (all from beyond the arc). He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists, while Anthony Mathis added 15 for the Ducks.

Addison Patterson added 12 and Will Richardson 10 off the bench for Oregon, who finished the day shooting 59.1 (39-of-66) percent from the floor and 50.0 (13-of-26) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot just 53.8 (7-of-13) percent from the free throw line, while grabbing 35 rebounds.

Payton Pritchard entered the game as the only player averaging 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game; however, he was held to just five points and five rebounds while dishing out nine assists.

Alabama State and Oregon traded baskets early in the contest as the two went into the first media timeout with the Hornets trailing 7-4. From there, the Ducks were able to take advantage of the three-point shot as they went on a 19-2 run over the next six minutes to push the lead to 26-6 with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half.

The Hornets return to action January 4 in conference play, as they open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play at Jackson State. The game is scheduled to tip at 5 pm, and the game will be carried on the Hornet Sports Network as part of a doubleheader beginning with pregame 15 minutes prior to tip.
