MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped their fifth consecutive match after a season-opening win, falling to North Alabama 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.

After dropping all three doubles matches to fall behind after the doubles point, Alabama State (1-5) reeled off three singles matches before North Alabama was able to clinch the match at number three singles.

Inside doubles play against North Alabama
North Alabama swept doubles play Sunday against Alabama State, winning at number one and two by the same 6-2 score respectively. The Lions won at number one when the team of Claudia Arroyo and Payton Andrews defeated Alabama State's team of Chloe Kabamba and Worthy Goldman.

They were able to complete the sweep at number three with a 6-4 victory by Nina Linke and Megan Humphreys over Alabama State's Lea Krajcovicova and Gabriela Lackova.

Inside singles play against North Alabama
Alabama State got wins at number one, two and five over North Alabama to put pressure on the Lions and send the match to number three singles as the deciding match.

Reka Szentes bounced back after a pair of losses at Mississippi State, picking up a win over North Alabama's Linke at number one singles; 6-4, 6-2.

She was joined in the win column by Krajcovicova at number two singles with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Arroyo; while Maria Popova picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory at number five over Humphreys of UNA.

The match was decided at number three singles where Payton Andrews of North Alabama claimed a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Alabama State's Lackova.

Alabama State returns to action Wednesday, February 13 against Troy at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
