MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to action this weekend on the road, opening conference play with a pair of matches in Baton Rouge (La.) beginning Friday.
Alabama State (1-7) opens conference play Friday morning against Southern, before facing Jackson State on Saturday in Baton Rouge. The Lady Hornets enter the contests as the two-time defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champions, and have not dropped a regular season match in conference play during those two years.
Inside the Alabama State Lady Hornets
- Reka Szentes, Lea Krajcovicova and Worthy Goldman all picked up singles wins for the Lady Hornets in their last match, a home loss to Jacksonville State back on February 16.
- Three different players each have recorded three singles victories this season, two of which are Szentes (3-4) and Krajcovicova. Meanwhile, Maria Popova (3-2) has picked up three singles victories. The matches involving Szentes and Krajcovicova have taken place at numbers one and two this season.
- The Lady Hornets have 14 wins as a team in singles play, with six players picking up a win this season – highlighted by the four players with multiple wins.
- Alabama State is currently 7-14 overall in doubles play on the year, including a pair of wins from the team of Szentes and Urska Velec. The duo has a 2-4 record with a win each at number one and number two doubles.

- Alabama State stays on the road, traveling to Birmingham (Ala.) to face Samford on March 2.
