@BamaStateWBB outlasts Alcorn to complete season sweep

Ward recorded a new career-high in the win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State cruised to an easy Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over the Lady Braves of Alcorn State, winning by a final score of 70-58 inside of Davey L. Whitney Complex on Saturday afternoon.
 
Three Lady Hornet (10-14, 9-4 SWAC) players scored in double figures during the victory, as Shmya Ward recorded a new-career high with 25 points and seven rebounds. Ayana Emmanuel also finished with 25 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor and 13-of-15 from the charity stripe. Jayla Crawford chipped in 12 points, while Zomoria Clark recorded a team-high 10 rebounds in the win.
 
The Lady Hornets finished the night shooting 62.5 (25-of-40) percent from the floor and 66.7 (2-of-3) percent from beyond the arc, with a pair of those coming from Crawford. The Lady Hornets also shot 60.0 (18-of-30) percent from the free throw line.
 
Meanwhile, De'Asia Brown led Alcorn (4-22, 3-11 SWAC) with 14 points, while Toddriana Isler added 11 points and four rebounds in the loss.

Alcorn shot 33.8 (23-of-68) percent from the floor and 23.1 (6-of-26) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night with just six free throw attempts, shooting 54.5 (6-of-11) percent from the stripe.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Alabama State won the rebounding battle, 38-30.
 
The Lady Braves finished with 24 points in the paint, 20 bench points and 15 second chance points.
 
The Lady Hornets finished with 40 points in the paint, 11 second chance points and 27 bench points.
 
Ward has scored in double figures 17 times this season, while Emmanuel has scored in double figures 18 times.
