MACON, Ga. | Alabama State fell to Mercer in non-conference action Sunday afternoon by identical 4-1 scores at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. Alabama State (1-5) picked up their point in singles play – playing their second match in three days.

Inside the men's match
Alabama State dropped the doubles point when they fell at numbers one and two against Mercer, including a heartbreaking 7-6 decision at number one doubles when the team of Ion Efrim and Alexis Collard fell to Olivier Stuart and Nicolas Guillon.

The tiebreaker was the second consecutive dropped by the number one doubles team.

Although it did not factor into the decision, the number three doubles team of Chris Andre and Alejo Calvis picked up another win this season with a 6-3 victory over Carver Arant and Fernando Guardia.

In singles play, Collard picked up a win at number three singles over Guardia 6-2, 7-6 to pick up the lone point for Alabama State.

Meanwhile, Efrim dropped his first match at number one singles – a straight set loss to Stuart, while Juan Rodriguez played in his first spring collegiate match at number four singles – dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Stathis Tsiranidis.
