@BamaStateTennis falls twice at Mississippi State, returns home Sunday

Lady Hornets return home to face North Alabama

STARKVILLE, Miss. | Alabama State fell twice to Mississippi State at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre Saturday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 match to begin the day and later dropping a 4-0 decision later in the afternoon.

Alabama State (1-4) has dropped their last four matches of the season, and have now dropped all four matches to Mississippi State in school history.

The Lady Hornets return to action Sunday afternoon against North Alabama at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to start at 1:30 pm, and admission is free to all home tennis matches.

Inside Match One
Alabama State dropped the doubles point, as Mississippi State won all three doubles matches. However, the number three team of Lea Krajcovicova and Gabriela Lackova dropped a hard-fought 7-6 (7-2) decision to Janina Braun and Sara Lizariturry.

In singles play, Mississippi State won all six singles – with five of the six decided in straight sets. However, Reka Szentes took her match to three sets before falling to 98th-ranked Magda Adaloglou 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10).

Worthy Goldman dropped her match at number six to Janina Braun 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Inside Match Two
The teams did play doubles, and the match was decided after four singles victories by Mississippi State. Only two of the matches were undecided including at number four where Goldman was playing, and at number six where Maria Popova was playing.

Chloe Kabamba moved from number two singles up to number one singles in the final match, while Szentes dropped and played number two.

All four singles matches were decided in straight sets.
