MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to action Saturday afternoon on the road for the third consecutive match, facing Samford at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.
Alabama State (3-7, 2-0 SWAC) enters the match having won their last two road matches in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, beating Southern and Jackson State on the road last week. The Lady Hornets have played five road matches this season entering the match on Saturday, and have played three in-state schools.
The Lady Hornets have five players who won their last singles match entering the Samford match, led by
Lea Krajcovicova who has won her last three matches and has posted a 5-4 record this season. She has won three singles matches at number two singles and two more at number three. Meanwhile,
Reka Szentes has won her last two matches and has posted a 4-4 record this season in singles play, with three wins at number one singles.
Maria Popova has a 4-2 record in singles play, winning her last match and has wins at numbers two, three, five and six on the season.
Urska Velec has won her last two matches this season, both in conference play and her first collegiate victories.
The Lady Hornets have not played in doubles play since February 16 against Jacksonville State. They have compiled a 7-14 record overall in doubles play this season.
