MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State stayed undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with a 7-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon.

Alabama State (5-8, 4-0) dropped just one game during the match, sweeping the Devilettes two days before the SWAC Pod will be played in Montgomery. The Lady Hornets have not lost a conference match in two-plus years, winning the conference championship the last two.

The Lady Hornets got wins by Maria Popova (number one), Lea Krajcovicova (number two), Worthy Goldman (number three), Urska Velec (number four) and Marija Blazevic (number five) in shutouts. They also got a win by Chloe Kabamba at number six 6-1, 6-0 to complete the sweep after winning the doubles point.

Alabama State returns to action March 15 at home against Alcorn State in the second SWAC Pod of the season. The Pod will be hosted at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center and Montgomery's Lagoon Park.
