@BamaStateTennis falls to UAB on the road

Hornets return to action against Alabama State Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a 7-0 decision to UAB Friday afternoon in non-conference action, and will set their sights on Alabama A&M who comes to Montgomery this weekend.

UAB claimed the doubles point with wins at number one and number three, and was leading at number two doubles before the point was claimed. The Blazers team of Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky defeated the Alabama State team of Ion Efrim and Alexis Collard at number one doubles, 6-2; before the number three team of Daniel Janko and Jasper van Fleef claimed a 7-5 decision.

The Blazers were able to claim all six singles matches in straight sets, with Efrim and Alejo Calvis winning on break points in their matches at numbers one and six respectively.

Efrim fell to Postolka 6-4, 7-5 at number one, while Calvis dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Tom el' Safadi at number six singles. Chris Andre did the same at number three singles forcing the first set to a tiebreak before falling 7-6, 6-1.

Alabama State faces Alabama A&M at 10 am Saturday morning.
