MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State continued their winning ways in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), defeating Alabama A&M 4-2 in conference action at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State (4-8, 3-0), who has not lost a conference match in two-plus years, got on the board early with the doubles point winning at numbers two and three. The number two team of Reka Szentes and Urska Velec claimed a 6-0 victory over Beatriz Gutierrez and Jasmine Boyd, before the team of Gabriela Lackova and Lea Krajcovicova defeated Rida Khalid and Alyssa Williams 6-3 to claim the doubles point.

The Lady Hornets picked up wins at number four singles behind Worthy Goldman 6-2, 6-3; before Marija Blazevic picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory at number six singles.

Alabama A&M got wins at number two and three singles, before Reka Szentes sealed the match at number one with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Gutierrez.

Alabama State returns to action March 13 at home against Mississippi Valley State in the second SWAC Pod of the season. The Pod will be hosted at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center and Montgomery's Lagoon Park.
