Trio of seniors lead @BamaStateTennis to win on Senior Day

Alabama State returns to action next weekend at the conference tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | A trio of seniors led Alabama State to a 4-0 victory over Spring Hill in the regular season finale at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.

Alabama State (10-9) ended the regular season winning eight of their 10 home matches this season, including winning back-to-back matches this weekend at home. The Hornets also finished undefeated in conference play for the third consecutive season.

The Hornets – celebrating the careers of senior Ion Efrim, Tomas Fernandez and Carl-Louis Luckmann – grabbed the doubles point to grab a 1-0 lead after winning at number one and two doubles. They extended the lead in singles play with wins by Efrim (number one) and Juan Rodriguez (number four), before a win by Fernandez at number three singles - in his final match at home – clinched the match for Alabama State.
