Montgomery, Ala. – Alabama State volleyball makes it first road trip of the season when it travels to Birmingham to face UAB on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Bartow Arena.

The Lady Hornets (3-0) are coming off a perfect weekend hosting the ISTAP SWAC/MEAC Challenge in Lockhart Gymnasium. Alabama State defeated South Carolina State (3-0) and Florida A&M (3-1) on Friday and finished the challenge with a 3-1 win over Delaware State on Saturday morning.

Bayle' Bennett wrapped up the tournament with 38 kills, 23 digs and eight blocks. Bennett also racked up a team-high seven service aces this past weekend. Fellow senior
Krysta Medearis follows behind with 31 kills and a .393 hitting percentage.

Freshman
Emersen Belles leads the team with 33 digs, averaging three per set while classmate
Madison Beasley boasts 66 assists averaging six per set.

Scouting UAB
UAB (0-2) is coming off a tough weekend as it dropped both contests in the Ball State Tournament on Friday. The Blazers fell to Ball State, 3-0 before dropping a 3-1 decision to USF.

Fernanda Maida leads the way for the Blazers averaging 3.71 kills per set while hitting .351 thus far. Additionally, Maida is tied with Rachel Morse for the team lead in service aces with three. Defensively Faith Savage leads the team with 22 digs (3.14/set) while Kiana Mack has six total blocks.

Last Time versus UAB
In the last outing between Alabama State and UAB, the Lady Hornets could not find an offensive rhythm and fell, 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-13) in Lockhart Gymnasium on Sept. 4, 2018. The Lady Hornets stuck with the Blazers in the first set but struggled in the second and third, ultimately hitting .095 for the match.
