Tucson, Ariz. – A slow start haunted Alabama State the entire match as the Lady Hornets dropped a 3-0 (8-25, 20-25, 19-25) decision to Sacramento State in non-conference volleyball action in the Wildcat Classic on Friday evening.
Alabama State (3-10) struggled offensively as the team hit .119 and committed 18 errors while Sacramento State (5-7) hit a blistering .400 to claim its second victory of the day.
Senior
Bayle' Bennett led the offense with eight kills, two assists and a service ace. Defensively freshman
Emersen Belles led the way with 11 digs while also securing one service ace.
Set One (Alabama State 8, Sacramento State 25)
Alabama State began the set slow and never was able to bounce back as the team hit -.048 with only six kills. Sacramento State controlled all the momentum as it hit .619 to take the first set.
Set Two (Alabama State 25, Sacramento State 21)
The Lady Hornets stuck with Sacramento coming within one point of tying twice (6-7, 18-19) but Sac State hit .324 in the set to claim the edge over Alabama State. The Lady Hornets recorded 12 kills but recorded six errors that deemed to be crucial in the end.
Set Three (Alabama State 19, Sacramento State 25)
Alabama State began the third set slow, having to call an early timeout with an 8-3 deficit. The closest the Lady Hornets came to tying the set was at 16-19 but an error allowed Sacramento State to regain its rhythm to close out the set.
