Prairie View, Texas – Alabama State could not slow down UAPB and fell 3-0 (23-25, 16-25, 18-25) in Southwestern Athletic Conference volleyball action in the SWAC West Roundup on Friday evening.
 
The Lady Hornets (3-13) was held to a .136 hitting percentage and committed 22 errors while the Golden Lions (1-13) secured a .340 hitting percentage and only tallied nine errors. UAPB locked up on defense as well as they recorded 49 digs and nine blocks.
 
Senior Bayle' Bennett posted her seventh double double of the season in 15 kills (.314 hitting) and a team-high 13 digs. Junior E'laisah Young recorded a season-high tying 13 kills with a .320 hitting percentage alongside two blocks.

Freshman Emersen Belles finished with a season-high tying and game-high three service aces with eight digs.
 
Set One (Alabama State 23, UAPB 25)
UAPB led for majority of the set with Alabama State tying the game five times. The Lady Hornets were able to tie the score late at 21-21 but UAPB held on to secure the first set. Both teams hit well as Alabama State hit .343 and UAPB posted a .484. Bennett recorded eight kills (.636) and Young secured six kills (.714).
 
Set Two (Alabama State 16, UAPB 25)
UAPB controlled the momentum the entire set as it held Alabama State to a .021 hitting percentage and forced nine errors. The Lady Hornets recorded one less kill than the Golden Lions but UAPB stayed poised and only committed two errors and tallied four blocks to claim the second set.
 
Set Three (Alabama State 18, UAPB 25)
Alabama State struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the third set as the team only secured nine kills while committing six errors. UAPB secured a blistering 15 kills and three blocks to earn the win. Young and Bennett tallied four kills apiece.

Alabama State will play two again on Saturday when it takes on host Prairie View A&M at 12:30 p.m. and Southern University at 5:30 p.m.
