Prairie View, Texas – Alabama State bounced back into the win column with a dominating 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-16) win over Grambling State in Southwestern Athletic Conference volleyball action in the final day of the SWAC West Roundup on Sunday morning.

The Lady Hornets (4-15, 1-4 SWAC) racked up 45 kills with a .293 hitting percentage and locked up on defensive to hold the Tigers (4-11, 1-2 SWAC) a .011 hitting percentage with 19 kills and 18 errors. Additionally, Alabama State posted 52 digs and five blocks.

Three players racked up double-digit kills in led by senior
Bayle' Bennett (.310) and sophomore
Taryn King (.611, career high) with 13 apiece followed by junior
Taira Cottingham (.350) posting 10. Bennett also added 12 digs to record her ninth double double of the season.

McKenzie Boland tallied a game-high 20 assists while freshman
Emersen Belles notched a game-high 17 digs. Beasley tied her season high with three service aces.

Set One (Alabama State 25, Grambling 18)
Alabama State led wire-to-wire holding Grambling State to a -.026 hitting percentage by forcing six errors with only seven kills. The Lady Hornets recorded 15 kills in the set while also securing 24 digs and three blocks. Sophomore
Taryn King tallied four kills with a .500 hitting percentage.

Set Two (Alabama State 25, Grambling 12)
The Lady Hornets controlled the momentum once again as they held the Tigers to a negative hitting percentage (-.042). Alabama State posted a .345 hitting percentage, tallying 15 kills in the set. Defensively, Alabama State only allowed four kills while forcing five errors.

Set Three (Alabama State 25, Grambling 16)
Alabama State used its energy from the first two sets in the third as it gained an early 11-6 lead that it would not relinquish. The Lady Hornets increased their lead to 18-9 and would not let the Tigers come within nine points through the end.
