@BamaStateWSC falls to in-state foe, UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State dropped their first match against an in-state team on the road, falling to UAB 5-0 at BBVA Field Thursday night. Five different players scored goals for UAB.

UAB (1-2-2) got on the board first when Regan Kommor scored in the 13th minute to give the Blazers an early 1-0 lead, before Megan Hudgens followed with a goal in the 16th minute to give UAB a 2-0 lead. Stella Kiss ended the first half scoring for UAB with a goal in the 29th minute to push the lead to 3-0 at intermission.

In the second half, Morgan Halliwill scored for the Blazers in the 55th minute , before Sha'Nya Stephens scored the final goal of the match in the 86th minute for the final margin.

Alabama State took three shots on the night with two being on goal
 
UP NEXT
Alabama State will take two days off before they host Jacksonville State at the ASU Soccer Complex. The match is scheduled for September 8 at 1 pm, and admission is free to all home soccer matches.

"We got a lot of people playing time. It's a good challenging environment for us to come into a great facility and play a good team. Those are the things that we can take from this; if we can grow from this, it will benefit us down the line when we get into our conference play for sure." – On positives to take away from this game.
 
"I felt at times we didn't compete to what we're capable of competing at. And that's the thing we talked about after the game, you know we have to answer the bell and compete. At times we didn't do that and that's what we got to focus on moving forward." – On what he expects to see change going into their next game.
