MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â Jayla Crawford finished with 22 points to lead Alabama State to a 77-64 win in SWAC action at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Saturday night.

The Lady Hornets (5-9, 2-1 SWAC) won their second straight conference game, this one coming in the home conference opener, thanks mostly to a 23-0 run from the first quarter into the second. The Devilettes (1-12, 0-2 SWAC) rallied back with a strong fourth quarter after outscoring ASU by 11 to cut the deficit to 13.

In a game that was pushed back three hours due to a line of severe storms moving through the area, Crawford made it rain to the tune of 22 points on 8-for-15 from the floor, knocking down three three-pointers in the contest.

Victoria Harvey dominated in the paint finishing two points shy of a double double on the night. Harvey had eight points and 12 rebounds, while also recording three blocked shots.

Joining Crawford as double-digit scorers were
Ayana Emmanuel and
Aniyah Smith. Emmanuel scored 14 for her fifth straight game in double-digits and added five assists, while Smith earned 12 points.

Mississippi Valley State was led by Sydnie Ward and Ayonna Cotton, who scored 11 and 10 respectively in the contest. Â

Alabama State returns to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome next Monday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. with the men's game following shortly after.
