MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â Arkansas-Pine Bluff ran away from Alabama State thanks to a strong third quarter to win the Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Monday night.

The Lady Lions (3-10, 2-1 SWAC) pulled away with a dominating third quarter – outscoring the Lady Hornets (5-10, 2-2 SWAC) 27-13 in the frame – which proved to be the difference in the game.

Freshman
Aniyah Smith led the way in scoring and rebounding for ASU, finishing with 13 points and grabbing nine boards.
Courtney Lee's four assists were a game-high and
Tyesha Rudolph recorded a game-high three steals.

Jayla Crawford followed up her career night against Mississippi Valley State Saturday with a double-digit scoring night. Crawford had 11 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals and a couple of assists.

UAPB's Aiya El Hassan scored 11 points in that deciding third quarter alone – she finished with 17. The Lady Lions were led offensively by a 19-point effort from Noe'll Taylor, who also had three steals and two assists in the contest. Overall, UAPB scored 31 points on 22 Alabama State turnovers – outdueling the Hornets by 16 in the points off turnovers category.
