@BamaStateWBB Eyes Rivalry Matchup in the Magic City

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State women's basketball is geared up for its first meeting with long-time rival Alabama A&M this Saturday at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham; tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
 
Fans can listen to the game live on the Hornet Sports Network with pregame set for 15 minutes prior to tip. This marks the second consecutive year that the teams have met in Bill Harris Arena, the site of the SWAC Championship Tournament in March.
 
Tickets are still available for $15 general admission and $20 for premium.

The Lady Hornets dominated Mississippi Valley State in the SWAC home opener last Saturday, led by a stellar performance from sophomore Jayla Crawford.
 
Crawford scored a season-high 22 points in the contest to help pace an Alabama State offense that rattled off a 23-0 run over the Devilettes over the course of the first two quarters. Crawford scored in double-digits both games over the weekend.

Freshman Aniyah Smith also finished in double-figures in both contests last week, scoring 12 and 13 points in Saturday's and Monday's games, respectively. Smith leads all SWAC freshmen in both scoring and rebounding on the season.
 
Ayana Emmanuel has produced at a high level consistently throughout the course of the 2019-2020 season for ASU, leading the team in scoring (11.9 points per game), three-pointers (18) and free throws (52).Emmanuel ranks 40th nationally and leads the SWAC making 85.2 percent of her free throw attempts.

Alabama A&M will enter Saturday's rivalry matchup having swept its SWAC contests last weekend over UAPB and Mississippi Valley State in Huntsville. The Bulldogs are led by reigning SWAC Player of the Week Dariauna Lewis, who averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks in last weekend's wins.
