MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will return to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome for the first time since January 13 as the Lady Hornets play host to Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Both contests will be broadcast live on YouTube and the Hornet Sports Network.

The Lady Hornets and Lady Panthers are set to start things at 3 p.m. on Saturday for Greek Night. Monday's game against the Lady Tigers will tip at 5:30 p.m. and will be First Responders Night.

Jayla Crawford has had the hot hand for Alabama State as of late, scoring in double figures in six of the first seven SWAC contests this year. Crawford averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game last weekend at Southern and Alcorn State.

Ayana Emmanuel has produced at a high level consistently throughout the course of the 2019-2020 season for ASU, leading the team in scoring (11.1 points per game), three-pointers (21) and free throws (55). Emmanuel ranks 66th nationally and leads the SWAC making 82.1 percent of her free throw attempts.

Freshman
Aniyah Smith leads all SWAC freshmen in both scoring and rebounding to this point of the season. Smith compiled 32 points in the two games last weekend, taking her season average to 10.2 – one of three Lady Hornets averaging double figures.

Currently one spot ahead of Alabama State in the SWAC standings sits its first opponent this weekend in Prairie View A&M. Led by Bernesha Peters' 10.7 points per game, the Lady Panthers have won three of their last four in SWAC play, including a sweep of Mississippi Valley and UAPB last weekend.

 Texas Southern has established itself as one of the top contenders for the 2020 SWAC Championship, starting league play 6-1 with its only loss coming to presently undefeated Jackson State in Jackson. The Tigers boast the top scoring offense in the conference, led by the SWAC's top scorer Ciani Cryor's 18.1 points per game. Cryor also ranks third nationally in assists per game at 7.3 and steals per game with 4.06, while teammate Niya Mitchell is fifth in Division I with 11.9 rebounds per game.
