MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Skyler Sullivan dealt five strong innings from the circle and the Alabama State offense assisted with eight runs in a five-inning shutout of South Carolina State on day two of the Stinger Classic at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex Saturday.
 
Sullivan (3-0) struck out four and allowed just two hits to pick up her third win of the early season. Alabama State (6-7) put together a six-run fourth behind the strong outing in the circle to secure the run-rule victory.
 
Like most of the season to this point, a large chunk of the Lady Hornets' offense was generated by Alexis Sydnor and Kaley Anthony in the meat of the order. Sydnor saw two's everywhere with her performance Saturday, going 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored, two RBIs and a two-bagger – all while wearing number 2.
 
Anthony drove home two runs, as well, both on an RBI single in the bottom of the third to put ASU on the board. Overall, eight of ASU's nine starters in the batting lineup recorded a hit in the game, contributing to an 11-hit total.

Alabama State will close out the 2020 Stinger Classic Sunday afternoon with a non-conference matchup with conference foe Grambling State. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
