MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Despite a three-hit night from Cameron Hearn, Alabama State fell to UAB 10-5 at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex Wednesday night.

Hearn finished the night 3-for-5 on the night, driving in a pair of runs and scoring a pair; while also connecting on the lone extra base hit of the night for the Hornets – a double in his first at-bat. Cristopher DeGuzman also recorded a pair of hits in four at-bats, while scoring a run. Alabama State also walked nine times on the night, with Chris Lewis collecting three of those.

Ricardo Rivera (0-1) suffered the loss in his first start of the season, going 5.0 innings and allowing four runs (two earned) while recording four strikeouts. Trevor Jurjevich, the third of three pitchers used on the night, came in to go 3.0 innings and allowed a pair of runs on two hits, with a pair of strikeouts.

Alabama State scored in the bottom of the first after the Hearn double and later scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead. After UAB was able to take a 4-1 lead through three, Alabama State added a run in the fifth and sixth, before scoring a pair of runs after loading the bases in the seventh inning.

Alabama State returns to action Friday hosting Toledo in a four-game series at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm.
