MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State bounced back from a defeat Sunday, to claim their first match of the season over Point 5-2 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Monday afternoon.

Alabama State (1-1) jumped on top early winning the doubles' point with a pair of victories, including at number with the team of Chris Andre and Juan Rodriguez picking up a 7-5 victory. The number three team of Alexis Collard and Alejo Calvis picked up a 6-2 victory to help the Hornets clinch the point.

Meanwhile, the Hornets claimed four of the six singles matches including the match-clinching victory by Collard at number five singles over Guido Luna 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Alabama State also picked up a pair of victories from freshmen Luka Markovic (three) and Alex-Antoine Marquis (four), their first collegiate victories.

Alabama State returns to action on the road Sunday at Samford.
