Ayana Emmanuel been at or near the top of several statistical categories this season for ASU, leading the team in scoring (11.2 points per game), three-pointers (23) and free throws (66). Emmanuel ranks 61st nationally and leads the SWAC making 82.7 percent of her free throw attempts.

The first time ASU and Mississippi Valley met, the Lady Hornets came out on top in dominating fashion – winning 77-64 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on January 11. Since then, Valley struggled to get its first win in SWAC action until last Monday when they took an 11-point win over Grambling at home. Last week, Devilette Azaria Howard was named the SWAC Co-Player of the Week after averaging 16.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game against the Texas schools.

The last matchup between ASU and UAPB went the other way, however. The Lady Golden Lions won by 11 after a strong third quarter in which they outscored the Lady Hornets by 14 points. They've been slumping since then, winning just one of their last six games – beating Grambling last Saturday. Kyeonia Harris leads the squad at 11.2 points per game this year.
