Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

@BamaStateTennis falls to Columbus State at home

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a pair of matches to Columbus State at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon.

On the men's side, Alabama State (1-3) fell 4-0 to Columbus State on the day, with the match ending after the Cougars clinched with three singles victories. The Hornets were able to win a doubles' match on the day, with the number two team of Alexis Collard and Alejo Calvis claiming a 6-2 victory over Matei Avram and Javier Cueto from Columbus State.

From that point, Columbus State was able to claim the doubles' point and then clinched the match with three straight-set victories.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Alabama State (1-2) fell 6-1 to the Cougars, but not before they were able to claim a pair of victories on the day. The doubles' team of Marija Blazevic and Vivien Kutacova claimed a 7-5 victory at number one over the Columbus State team of Kristina Baran and Neila Trklja.

The win in doubles was the first of two on the day for Kutacova as she defeated Trklja 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 at number four singles for the lone point for the Lady Hornets on the day. Although that was the only win for Alabama State, Bea Acena took her match to three sets before falling to Amanda Citre 6-1, 6-7, 8-10 at number five.

Alabama State returns to action on the women's side a week from Sunday against Mississippi State at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. Meanwhile, the Hornets are off until conference play in 13 days in Jackson (Miss.).
