HOUSTON | Texas Southern used a big first quarter and an even bigger fourth to pull away from Alabama State with an 88-59 Southwestern Athletic Conference contest at H&PE Arena Monday.
Ciani Cryor and Ataiya Bridges combined to score 62 of the Lady Tigers' (18-9, 13-3 SWAC) 88 points in the contest. Cryor's 34 led all players, while Bridges scored 28 thanks to shooting 11-for-11 at the free throw line.
The Lady Hornets (9-18, 6-10 SWAC) cut things to just five late in the second quarter, partly because of the offensive production from sophomore
Tyesha Rudolph. Rudolph finished the game with a team-high 15 points – her highest output since the first two games of SWAC play back at the beginning of January.
Jayla Crawford reached double figures off the bench for Alabama State, scoring 11 points in 20 minutes of game action.
Courtney Lee led the team in both rebounds and assists, grabbing seven boards and dishing out six assists.
