Lady Hornets fall to Alabama in season opener on the road

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | Alabama State fell to Alabama, 7-0, in their season opener at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State (0-1) challenged at number two and three doubles before having their serve broken, falling by identical 6-3 scores. In singles play, Francesca Duca dropped a hard-fought straight set match to Sydney Riley 7-6 (7-4), 6-0. Meanwhile, Bea Acena fell 6-2, 6-4 at number three singles to Alba Courtina Pou.

Alabama State returns to action next Saturday, January 30, against North Alabama. The match is scheduled for 1 pm at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center in Montgomery.
