MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to North Alabama at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Saturday in non-conference action.
Alabama State (0-2) dropped the doubles' point to North Alabama after the Lions were able to sweep through play. However, in singles' play, the Lady Hornets picked up a pair of victories. After dropping the first set in her match at number three,
Urska Velec stormed back to pick up a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory. She was joined in the win column by her doubles' partner,
Bea Acena, who picked up a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win at number four singles.
The Hornets return to action Wednesday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, facing Mercer as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. The matches are scheduled to start at 1 pm.
Alabama State University is mask-mandatory, and all athletic venues are limited capacity facilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
