Alabama State begins three game Midwest road swing at Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. | Alabama State begins a three-game Midwest road swing at JOH Arena against Missouri State (0-1), with tip set for 7 pm on Saturday.

Alabama State (0-2) is in the midst of a five-game road swing to open the season, dropping games at WKU (79-74) and Vanderbilt (91-72) earlier this week. The road trip will conclude with games in the state of Iowa next week. The Hornets and Missouri State last met November 10, 2019, with Missouri State winning 59-50.

GAME NOTES
  • Alabama State and Missouri State have met four times prior to Saturday's contest with Missouri State winning all four, including the last time in 2019.
  • Trace Young (Owensboro, Ky.) has led Alabama State in scoring in both games this season, scoring 23 points (with nine rebounds) and 11 points against Vanderbilt.
  • Juan Reyna (San Antonio, Texas) is the only other player to score in double figures in both games this season with 16 points against WKU and 10 against Vanderbilt.
  • A trio of players – Young, Reyna, and Isaiah Range (Cedar Hill, Texas) – have led Alabama State in both games this season. They scored 53 points against WKU and another 30 against Vanderbilt.
  • Several players have seen action this season in a pair of games, including 12 different players against Vanderbilt.
  • There are only six coaches in college basketball that have NBA experience and two of those met last week when Alabama State and Mo Williams took on Vanderbilt led by Jerry Stackhouse.
