HUNTSVILLE, Ala. |Â Alabama State (15-16, 12-4 SWAC) will travel north this weekend for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Volleyball Tournament, beginning on Friday inside of Elmore Gymnasium.

The No. 4 seed Hornets will take on fifth seeded Grambling State for a chance to advance to the semifinals and face the winner of No. 1 Jackson State/ No. 8 Texas Southern.

GAME NOTES
- Alabama State has won 12 consecutive SWAC Tournament games, as they won four straight conference championships from 2016-19 before opting out of the spring 2020 season.
- The Hornets swept the Tigers in their lone matchup this season in Grambling on October 31 in the SWAC Roundup.
- Alabama State won the 2019 SWAC Volleyball Championship as a fifth seed, pulling off upsets against Southern, Alabama A&M and Prairie View in the finals to earn the NCAA Tournament berth.
- Sophomore Jada Rhodes (Tallahassee, Fla.) leads the Hornets so far this season as the only player with at least 250 kills and digs with totals of 307 kills and 254 digs. Junior Kalysia Bates (Phenix City, Ala.) has also crossed the 200-plus mark in kills with 278.
- Behind Rhodes and Bates, three other Alabama State players have logged 100 kills so far this season in Mahogany Vinson (Richton Park, Ill.) with 186, Alexis Ratliff (Atlanta, Ga.) with 173 and Amaya Finley (Stockton, Calif.) at 115.
- Both Hornet setters have over 500 assists and 100 digs in McKenzie Boland (Stockbridge, Ga.) with 528 and 144 digs, while Madison Beasley (Gilbert, Ariz.) has logged 507 and 137 digs.
- Two Hornets have over 200 digs with junior Emersen Belles (Gilbert, Ariz.) leading the way with 315 and Rhodes who has 254. Three more Hornets have at least 100 digs in Beasley, Boland, and Logan Horne (Montgomery, Ala.) with 127, while two have over 75 blocks in Bates (94) and Vinson (78).
