PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Alabama State started strong, but couldn't withstand a second half run by Prairie View A&M, falling 87-63 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action Monday night.
Alabama State (2-7, 2-7 SWAC) opened the game on a 10-1 run, but it was a 15-1 run by Prairie View A&M that pushed the lead to double digits and the Hornets did not have an answer. The Hornets finished the night shooting 53.3 (16-for-30) percent from the free throw line, while connecting on 41.7 (20-for-48) percent from the floor and 43.8 (7-for-16) from beyond the arc.
Brandon Battle was the lone player in double figures for Alabama State, finishing with 10 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile,
Kevion Stewart finished with nine and
Jordan O'Neal finished with eight points and six rebounds.
Cam Mack led Prairie View A&M (7-4, 5-0 SWAC) with 24 points and 10 assists, with the Panthers finishing the night shooting 48.4 (31-for-64) percent from the floor.
Alabama State returns to action Saturday at home inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome against UAPB. Tip is set for 4:30 pm and can be seen on the Hornet Sports Network. Season tickets are currently on sale for the remainder of the 2021 season by contacting the Alabama State University Ticket Office. Only season ticket holders will be admitted into the venue, and Alabama State is a mask-mandatory campus.
