PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Alabama State completed a sweep of the state of Texas for the first time since 2013-14, defeating Prairie View A&M 83-70 Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action.

Ayana Emmanuel led Alabama State (7-1, 7-1 SWAC) with 23 points, including 13 first-half points. Meanwhile Shmya Ward added 20 points, while Tyesha Rudolph added 13 off the bench for Alabama State. Jayla Crawford added 11 for Alabama State, with the juniors combining for 66 points and led Prairie View A&M themselves with just three minutes to play in the game.

Diana Rosenthal led Prairie View A&M (1-8, 0-6 SWAC) with 20 points, while TaMiracle Taylor added 15. Kennedy Paul chipped in with 12 for the Lady Panthers.

Alabama State returns to action Saturday at home inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome against UAPB. Tip is set for 2 pm and can be seen on the Hornet Sports Network. Season tickets are currently on sale for the remainder of the 2021 season by contacting the Alabama State University Ticket Office at (334) 229-4551. Only season ticket holders will be admitted into the venue, and Alabama State is a mask-mandatory campus.
