TROY, Ala. | Alabama State battled the elements and Troy on Sunday, falling to Trojans 7-0 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex in non-conference action.
Alabama State (2-3) dropped the singles point after losses at number one and number three, before the number two team of
Chris Andre and
Juan Rodriguez dropped a break before falling to the Trojans' team of Pelayo Antuna and Carles Anton.
Although they fell in all six spots in singles, Alabama State's
Luka Markovic battled through three sets with Nicolas Smith before falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-3; while Andre,
Ruan Du Preez and
Assil Boussayri nearly pulled off the first set in both of their matches. Andre fell 7-5, 6-2 at number one, before Du Preez fell 7-6, 6-1 at number two and Boussayri fell 7-5, 6-3 at number three singles.
Alabama State returns to action Friday against Alabama A&M in the SWAC Pod hosted by Southern in Baton Rouge (La.).
