@BamaStateSB drops pair of games in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a pair of games at the UAB Tournament Saturday, falling to Eastern Illinois and Nicholls State.

Eastern Illinois 6, Alabama State 2
Alabama State was able to score a run in each the second and third innings, but it wasn't enough as Eastern Illinois plated three in the fifth to pull away. Alabama State got their lone run in the second on a sacrifice fly from Jamaica Flowers, and their run in the third came on an Alex Massie double.

Massie finished the opener 2-for-4, while five other Lady Hornets picked up a hit each.

Skyler Sullivan (1-4) suffered the loss, working 4.2 innings and allowing five runs off of eight hits, before giving way to Madison Myers for the final 1.1 innings.

Nicholls State 8, Alabama State 0
Nicholls State scored three runs in the first and four more in the third to pull away from Alabama State in the final game of the day.

Alabama State was held to just three hits in the contest, while Myers suffered the loss working the final 2.1 innings of the game in relief of starter Vanessa Bradford.

The Lady Hornets return to action Sunday against UAB in a pair of games, both televised by CUSA-TV.
