PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Top-seeded Alabama State will face No. 4 seed Jackson State on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament after the two combined for 14 goals in their quarterfinal matches.
The match is scheduled for 3 pm.
Alabama State (7-2-1) scored six goals in their quarterfinal matchup with No. 8 seed Alcorn State, with
Teaggan Ilela scoring a pair in the win. Meanwhile, Jackson State (5-3) outscored No. 5 seed Texas Southern 8-2 in their quarterfinal matchup with Maya-Joy Thompson scoring a pair of goals.
The two teams met back on March 14 in Jackson (Miss.) with Alabama State winning that contest 2-1 after a scoreless first half. The Lady Hornets used a goal from
Janae Brown in the 49th minute to grab an early lead, before the two teams scored goals just two minutes apart beginning in the 87th minute by
McKenna Wiscombe and the 89th minute by Jackson State's Annalise Brunson for the final margin.
The winner advances to the championship match, which will be carried on the SWAC Digital Network, Sunday morning.
