Lorman, Miss. |Â Alabama State (15-27, 10-8 SWAC) closed out their current series and regular season with a 6-1 win on the road at Alcorn State on Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets responded to an early second inning run by the Braves with two runs in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead after
Jazmine Dodd singled to left to bring in both
Arianna Atchley and
Jaeda Gardner.
After two scoreless innings on both sides, Alabama State added four more runs in the top of the inning.
Jamaica Flowers drove in the first two scores with a double down the line to score Dodd and
Aishja Wilcher followed by
Kaley Anthony who also hit a two-run single also to left for the last two runs and the final score.
Dodd led the Hornets at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance to go along with a run scored and two RBI, while Anthony and Flowers both added a hit and two RBI each.
Madison Myers (1-6) picked up the win, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run off two hits and striking out three batters.
