GAME NOTES
- The Lady Hornets began the season with 13 road games, including four tournaments, starting with the Gamecock Classic in Jacksonville, Alabama and concluding with a weekend in Statesboro, Georgia at the Georgia Southern Tournament on September 17-18.
- Alabama State has never beaten Troy in the 33-game series, with the last meeting being in 2019 in Montgomery.
- Junior S Madison Beasley (Gilbert, Ariz.) currently leads the team in assists and is third in digs with 41 on the year.
- Junior MB Kalysia Bates (Phenix City, Ala.) and sophomore OH Jada Rhodes (Tallahassee, Fla.) lead the Hornets in kills (55) after the first nine games, while Rhodes also leads in digs (54).
- The Hornets have two setters with over 50 assists, with sophomore Madison Beasley and senior McKenzie Boland being responsible for 140 and 80 assists respectively – both setters are in the top-15 in school history for career assists.
- After the program opted out of the spring 2020 season and missing the first two Hornet tournaments, junior DS Emersen Belles made her season debut over the weekend in Carbondale. The 2019 Second Team All-SWAC performer compiled 30 digs, four assists and three service aces in her return over the three-game stretch.
- Tuesday's match against Troy will be their third of four games slotted to be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. Alabama State played their first on the road at Jacksonville State on ESPN+ (Aug. 27), followed by a match against Southern Illinois on ESPN3 (Sep. 11), and their last being against Georgia Southern on ESPN+ (Sep. 17) at 10 am.
