MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will host rival Alabama A&M in their home opener on Friday, September 24 at 6 pm in Lockhart Gymnasium.
 
The match is the first at Lockhart and in Montgomery since November 15, 2019, which resulted in a Hornet win, also against the Bulldogs. Alabama State and Alabama A&M have a played a tight series over the last 25 matches, with the Hornets holding a 15-10 lead since 2009.

GAME NOTES

• Both Alabama State and Alabama A&M are playing their first regular season conference match in two years after choosing to opt out of the spring 2021 season.
• The two teams last met in the SWAC Championships semifinal round, with Alabama State advancing on their way to their fourth consecutive conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
• Jada Rhodes (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named All-Tournament for her play last weekend at the GATA Challenge, hosted by Georgia Southern. The sophomore logged double-digit kills in all three games, including a season-high 17 against Georgia Southern. This is the second such honor for Alabama State so far this season, as junior Kalysia Bates (Phenix City, Ala.) was named All-Tournament after her performance at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational, from September 3-4.
• Senior McKenzie Boland (Stockbridge, Ga.) recorded her 1,000-career assist in a match against Georgia Southern (Sep. 17). The setter is the 11th Hornet to reach the milestone.
