Box Score ITTA BENA, Miss. | Alabama State won their second consecutive road Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match, winning 2-1 over Mississippi Valley State in overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi Valley State got on the board in the 24th minute when Madeleine Hebert took a feed from Aryana Saenz took a pass from the right side and tapped it in for a 1-0 lead.
- Alabama State tied the match up in the second half when McKenna Wiscombe (Orem, Utah) converted on a penalty kick to the lower right in the 55th minute to send the match into overtime.
- After the match went into overtime, Sunny Bowlin-Stacy (Anchorage, Alaska) scored in the 99th minute when she took a feed from Alexa Delong (Williamston, Mich.) to the far post.
GAME NOTES
- The conference win for the Lady Hornets ran their unbeaten streak to nine matches dating back to the spring season.
- Alabama State took 21 shots to just 7 for Mississippi Valley State in the win.
- Sheila Sanchez (Castellon, Spain) recorded six saves in the win for the Lady Hornets.
