MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State and Bethune-Cookman meet for the first time since 1983 when the two meet in a key Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matchup in Mobile as part of the inaugural Bridge Builders Classic.
The game is scheduled to tip at 7 pm inside the Mitchell Center on the campus of South Alabama as part of a five-game day in the Classic.
Alabama State (4-15, 3-4) looks to end a two-game road losing streak after losses to Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern last week. The Hornets find themselves a deadlock for seventh in the conference as teams reach the midway point of the season. They are tied with Alabama A&M and Bethune-Cookman headed into the weekend just one game back of Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M in the standings.

- Alabama State and Bethune-Cookman have met 16 times in school history but not since the mid-80s when the Hornets claimed a 96-65 victory in the last meeting. The Hornets are currently in the midst of a seven-game winning streak in the series.
- The longest streak in the series is the current streak for the Hornets, while Bethune-Cookman won four consecutive games from 1966 to 1968 sweeping the season series for two consecutive seasons.
- Trace Young (Owensboro, Ky.) leads Alabama State in scoring in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, one of four players in double figures in conference play, at 15.0 points per game in three games. The junior has scored in double figures in each conference game, including 17 against Texas Southern on Monday.
- Isaiah Range (Cedar Hill, Texas) recorded a career-high seven steals against Texas Southern on Monday night in Houston.
- The Hornets have started 13 different lineups this season and have had their full squad for just one conference game to this point. They are second in the nation in the number of starting lineups used this season, trailing only Memphis.
